The month of June in pics!!!
OK it has been a busy month for the Sheard household but lots of fun. We started the renovation on our Kitchen we are done with the cupboards!!! Alec had to help paint, here he is painting Daddy's Father's Day present.
Here is our kitchen pre-staining. They are solid oak cabinets, very nice but the stain/varnish turned quite yellow over the years, just not our style.
After staining we have a beautiful cabernet color!! Next up countertops and backsplash.
Evan at the park.
Burke with a grimmace.
Fun times.
Lylas with her watermelon.
Daddy's father's day gift.
Impromptu band in the backyard. Alec is playing the cymbals with pan tops.

Strawberry Rhubarb Pie
I was shopping at Nino Salvaggio's which is the most amazing store ever!! Of course they had strawberries and rhubarb in bushels right next too each other and I thought that a pie would be perfect. Never having had it I ended up pulling my own recipe together from several. I haven't made very many pies but this is SOOOO easy and good. I mean it, it is easy, try it!!
Forgive me I did use a Pillsbury pie crust.
2 cups Rhubarb 1/2" slices
3 cups Strawberries 1/2" slices
Mix with 1/3 cup flour
2/3 cups Splenda
1/3 cup Sugar
pinch of cinnamon
pinch of nutmeg
1 tbls lemon juice
Some of the lemon peel
Dot with 1-2 tbls butter
Place bottom crust in 9" pie pan, add the berry mix, dot the butter on top. Place second crust on top and trim crust. Place air vents in the pie and use an egg wash. Bake at 350F for about 60 mins, check every 20 mins. If crust gets to brown cover with tin foil. Allow to cool.

Mommy and Me
Alec and I got to spend a whole day together while Daddy played in Cincinnati with Uncle Kevin. We went to the library and got seven books, Alec couldn't stop picking them out. Then we headed to see Burke and Evan play t-ball. Alec got to play on the playground and then we headed to lunch. After that we went to visit the Rossi family. Fun with little Jett and pizza and even more playgrounds. Alec was a marathon runner, he was running all over the place across the soccer fields. Luckily for Mommy this put him right to sleep at eight on the dot.
