1 versus 2

We are so close to baby number 2, 32 days away! I can't believe we can count in days now. For the most part the house is ready and I haven't had a major need to nest in a few weeks. We were amazed, or at least I was, at the size of the tiny newborn diapers; they barely fit in the palm of my hand. Really the last thing we have left to do is a bit of a big one. We need to pull down everything from the attic pack n play, swing, bouncer, car seat, bottles, infant clothes... oh my. I'm sure another couple rounds of nesting will kick in once I can get my hands on that stuff.

So I wanted to make sure to document pregnancy 1 with Mr. Alec as compared to pregnancy 2 with baby ????

Foods
With Alec I had random food hates such as baby corn, vinegar, watermelon, avocados. Baby number 2 seems to like anything. The only exception was my first trimester, no vegetable would make it down my throat. I would try to eat anything vegetable related, trying to be a good pregnant Mommy, but inevitably it would be spit out in the trash. I don't think that I really had any massive food cravings with Alec. This one there has been random weeks of coca-cola, lots of sugar but other than that, its been pretty much the same.

Smells
With Alec I could smell everything and I hated it. I could walk in the door and tell you if the milk in the fridge was two days away from spoiling. Which of course meant I could no longer open the fridge until Jonny took care of the funk. Many an unfinished gallons of milk went down the drain. I couldn't smell the food I ate for dinner an hour later, it would gross me out. With this pregnancy I have random smell problems overwhelming cologne smells at church or the random food smell from someone's table at a restaurant. I never know when the foul odors will start.

General Stuff
With Alec any general nastiness could send me over the edge running for a trash can or bathroom. There was no watching of fear factor or survivor in that pregnancy. Seemingly no problems with this one. The doctor was commenting at my last visit that my weight gain and belly measurements have been exactly the same as they were with Alec. Same back pains, same tiredness and same restless nights at the end of the pregnancy. Baby 2 also seems way more active than Alec ever was. It is a little kickboxing ninja in my belly, want to crawl out through the top.

As we think this will likely be our last pregnancy, I'm trying to remember everything. Every kick, every craving, every little thing that I know my silly female hormones will want to feel again in a few years.

So for now we are trying to spend our last "free" moment together as a family, comforting Alec before his little world is turned upside down.
